Care Guide
Bamboo Bedding
This section applies to: Fitted Sheets, Duvet Covers, Pillowcases, Baby Cot Sheets, and Pet Bedding
Washing & Drying:
- First Use: Always wash your new bedding before its first use to soften the fibers.
- Wash Separately: Wash your bamboo bedding on its own or with other delicate items. Avoid rough fabrics like denim or items with zippers to prevent pilling.
- Machine Settings: Use a gentle or delicate cycle with cold water, or at a maximum temperature of 30°C (86°F).
- Detergent: Use a mild, liquid detergent. Do not use bleach or fabric softeners, as they can damage the natural bamboo fibers.
- Buttons: Always ensure that all buttons or fastenings are undone to prevent ripping or tearing of the duvet cover.
- Drying: Line drying is highly recommended to preserve the fibers and color. If using a machine, tumble dry on a low heat or delicate setting and remove promptly.
- Ironing: Do not iron bamboo items, as it is possible this will cause damage
Treating Stains on Bamboo Fabric
Accidents happen! The key to successful stain removal is to act quickly and treat the stain before washing and drying. Heat from a dryer can set a stain permanently. Here are several gentle and effective methods.Important First Step: Before applying any treatment, gently blot the fresh stain with a clean cloth to remove any excess. Always dab, never rub, as rubbing can spread the stain.
For General Stains & Odors:
- White Vinegar Mixture: Create a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 4 parts water. Soak the stained area for a few minutes before washing.
For Oil & Grease Stains:
- Dish Detergent: Apply a small amount of gentle dish soap directly onto the stain. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes before washing.
For Protein & Organic Stains (like blood or dirt):
- Enzyme-Based Stain Remover: Apply directly to the stain and let it soak for up to 15 minutes before washing.
- Hydrogen Peroxide (for light-colored fabrics): Use with caution and test a hidden spot first. Add a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide to water and soak the stain for only a few minutes before washing.
For Lifting General Stains:
- Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate): Create a paste with water and baking soda. Apply to the stain and let it sit for 30 minutes before washing.
Bamboo Cotton Towels
Bamboo cotton towels are designed to feel soft, plush, and highly absorbent from the very first use. However, because bamboo fibres are naturally delicate and exceptionally moisture-loving, they can be more sensitive to washing habits than traditional cotton. Over time, factors such as detergent build-up, hard water minerals, and excessive heat can cause towels to lose their softness and feel stiff or less absorbent.
With the right care routine, this is entirely avoidable. A few small adjustments can help maintain that cloud-like texture, preserve absorbency, and extend the life of your towels.
Washing & Drying:
- Wash Before Use: Wash towels before their first use to increase their absorbency.
- Machine Settings: Use a gentle cycle with cold water or a maximum of 30°C (86°F) to protect the fibres.
- Detergent: Use a mild detergent and avoid overloading the wash with too much product, as excess detergent can build up within the fibres and cause stiffness over time. Crucially, avoid fabric softeners, as they leave a coating that reduces absorbency. Do not use bleach.
- Hard Water Awareness: In areas with hard water, mineral deposits can gradually attach to the fabric and affect softness. Using the correct amount of detergent and occasional maintenance washes can help minimise this.
- Drying: Tumble dry on a low to medium setting to help keep them soft and fluffy. High heat should be avoided, as it can damage the delicate bamboo fibres and reduce their flexibility. You can also line dry, but a gentle tumble dry often yields a softer result for towels.
- Restore Softness: If air drying, give towels a firm shake before and after drying to loosen the fibres and prevent them from stiffening as they dry.
- Avoid Snags: Wash towels in a separate load from clothing with hooks or zippers.
Restoring Softness to your Towels
If your towels begin to feel stiff or lose their absorbency, this is often due to a combination of detergent residue and mineral build-up rather than wear. Fortunately, this can usually be reversed with a simple reset:
Vinegar Wash
- Run a warm wash cycle (not hot) with one cup of white distilled vinegar and no detergent to break down residue and mineral deposits.
Baking Soda Wash
- Follow with a second wash using half a cup of baking soda to help neutralise odours and further release trapped build-up.
Shake Before Drying
- Give towels a firm shake to loosen the fibres before placing them in the dryer.
Low Heat Drying
- Tumble dry on a low to medium setting. Adding wool dryer balls can help restore softness by gently separating the fibres as they dry.
-
With consistent care, your bamboo cotton towels will retain their softness, absorbency, and comfort wash after wash.
Bamboo Duvet
Your NakedLab BambooSilk™ duvet is filled with ultra-fine bamboo fibers. To protect the delicate filling, professional care is essential.
- Professional Dry Clean Only: We strongly recommend professional dry cleaning to maintain its quality and prevent the filling from clumping. Home washing can damage the duvet's structure.
Bamboo Eye Mask
Your bamboo eye mask is a delicate item. Gentle care will keep it clean and soft.
- Hand Wash (Recommended): Hand wash in cool water with a few drops of a mild, pH-neutral detergent.
- Drying: Gently squeeze out excess water (do not wring) and lay it flat on a towel to air dry.
