Spring Cleaning for the Bedroom

 

Spring is here, and it's time to give your bedroom a thorough spring cleaning! After a long winter, dust, dirt, and clutter can accumulate in your personal space, making it difficult to relax and unwind. A clean and organised bedroom can help you sleep better and feel more refreshed in the morning.

1. Decluttering your bedroom

The first step in your spring cleaning is clearing your bedroom of clutter. Take a look around your room and identify unnecessary items that you no longer need or use. Donate or sell those that are in good condition, and throw away anything that is no longer usable. Similarly, a cluttered wardrobe can make it difficult to find the clothes you need, and a clear out will make you feel great! Take some time to organise your clothes by sorting out what you want to keep, donate, and sell. Hang your clothes on hangers and use storage boxes to store shoes, hats, and purses. This will help create more space in your bedroom and make it easier to clean and keep tidy going forward.

 

2. Dust and vacuum

Dust can accumulate quickly in a bedroom, especially on surfaces like dressers, bedside tables, and bookshelves. Use a microfiber cloth to wipe down these surfaces, and don't forget to dust your blinds or vacuum your curtains using the upholstery attachment. Vacuum your floors and rugs to remove any dirt and debris that may have accumulated over the winter. Don't forget to clean your mirrors and windows, too. Use a streak-free glass cleaner to keep them looking great. If you have a ceiling fan, wipe the blades to keep them free of dust once a week.

 

3. Bedding Maintenance 

Your bedding should be washed regularly to remove sweat, dirt, and dead skin cells. The Sleep Foundation recommends once per week, especially in warmer, humid climates. Strip your bed of all linens, including sheets, pillowcases, and your duvet. Don't forget to wash your pillows, and replace them every year or two. It is also important to remember that you need to replace your bedding every two years to ensure you are experiencing the best sleep experience.

 

You could also update your bedding for that ultimate fresh feeling (because who doesn’t love new bedding?). A bedding refresh also gives you the opportunity to pick some new colours. You can opt to mix & match, getting the crisp, clean feel of white bedding with a pop of colour to make your bedding your own. 4. Cleaning the floors

Your bedroom floors can accumulate dirt and debris quickly, especially if you have pets. Sweep or vacuum your floors to remove any dirt and debris, and then mop them with a cleaning solution, and don't forget to clean under your bed and other furniture. For a spring clean, it is important to make sure you clean the places that are either difficult to get to or that are usually missed. If you have wooden or tiled floors you can easily keep them clean by brushing and mopping, but if you have carpet it can be more difficult. Fortunately, there are sprays available that kill bacteria, ensuring your carpet is clean and fresh for the coming season.

 

5. Finally, freshen up your room

After you've finished your spring cleaning of your bedroom, why not welcome in the spring? Open your windows for some fresh air, and add a plant or two to freshen the space.
